When I create a fragrance, it always starts from a desire and inspiration to capture a moment in time, a memory, place, or feeling. Scent is one of the most powerful ways to conjure emotions and memories, and I love doing just that with each fragrance we create.

One day I was feeling nostalgic for where I grew up in the countryside and longed to have a home fragrance that could make me feel like I'm a kid again. I grew up in the countryside about 120 km outside of Toronto, Canada. I spent my childhood playing outside, every day from when the sun came up until it was time to go home for dinner. I'd spend hours exploring the woods, daydreaming in my mother's garden, swimming in the lake, catching frogs in the creek, climbing trees, and counting stars.

"I grew up in the countryside and longed to have a home fragrance that could make me feel like I'm a kid again"

There's something magical that happens when you spend time in nature. Your whole body soaks up everything around you, the scents, the light, every change in the seasons, the wildlife, and you feel alive. Our newest scent, Countryside, captures these feelings with a blend of freshly cut grass, peony, and wood.

What does Countryside smell like?

Top notes of freshly cut grass, with its green, verdant, slightly sweet scent, reminds me of playing outside in the grass. As a child, my mother's garden overflowed with hostas, wild mint, and blooming peonies that were taller than me. I would stick my nose in the pink and white peonies to breathe in their fragrant floral, rosy and slightly citrus scent. It's still my favourite flower. Base notes of wood remind me of playing in the woods for hours and climbing trees. I would come home at dusk, exhausted and happy, smelling of the forest.

Each time I smell one of our Countryside Candles, Reed Diffusers or Room Sprays, it makes me smile and I'm taken back to my childhood. Home is always close when I breathe in this beautiful scent. I can't wait for you to try Countryside and I hope it helps you feel like a kid again too.
